Mrs.Christina Catarella

Christine Catarella graduated from Binghamton University in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She is currently a special education teacher at Broome Tioga BOCES working with students on the autism spectrum. She is a parishioner at St. James in Johnson City and has been a member of the Newman Foundation Board of Directors since 2000.

Mrs. Corinne Carndell

Secretary

Corinne Haines Crandell is a parishioner at St. Paul’s Church in Binghamton, where for 23 years she has served as a lector, Confirmation teacher, Eucharistic minister, and RCIA team member. For 25 years she has been an adjunct professor of psychology at SUNY Broome Community College, mainly teaching Child Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and supervising the Human Services internship for 5 years.

Mrs. Amy Gills

Amy Gills is a former Newman House Student Advisory Council and choir member. She has a BS Management from BU School of Management.  Amy is married to James, also BU/Newman House Alumni, and is a mother and home educator of 6.  Amy is an active parishioner and volunteer at Saint Joseph's Church in Endicott, NY and is the Financial Director of Catholic Home Educators of STNY.

Mr. Robert Gomulka

Treasurer

Mr. Gomulka is retired after 35 years of employment with United Health Services.  His positions ranged from Controller to Chief Financial Officer.  Previous to that, he was employed as an auditor for Coopers & Lybrand, LLC. Mr. Gomulka graduated from Binghamton University’s School of Management in 1994 with a B.S. in Business and an M.S. in Accounting and Finance.

Andrew Loso

Andrew Loso is a 2015 graduate of Binghamton University and is currently pursuing a masters in Higher Education Administration. As an active member of the Newman House community during his time as a student, he served as the Activities Coordinator. Andrew now works as an admissions counselor at Binghamton and is excited to continue to work with the Newman House as it continues to serve the Catholic students of our campus.

Mrs. Michelle O’Loughlin

Is a life long resident of Binghamton.  I graduated from Binghamton University in 2003 with a B.S. from the School of Education and Human Development. A long career in the healthcare field as a Cardiac Sonographer within the UHS hospital system has been the focus of my work life.   I have served on the City of Binghamton Planning Commission and currently volunteer at the Samaritan House.  The Newman House Catholic Community of Binghamton University is a vital asset to the students and our whole community and I enjoy supporting its mission.

Mr. James Orband

James W. Orband is a Managing Partner at Hinman, Howard & Kattell’s. He maintains an active legal practice focusing on financial institutions, construction law, and mergers and acquisitions, with participation in other areas of business law.  He is a 1984 Albany Law School of Union University and a 1981 Binghamton University.

David Pellicciotti

David Pellicciotti, and his wife Catherine, have four children and two grandchildren.  They are parishioners of St. Vincent De Paul Blessed Sacrament. David is a Business Education teacher at Binghamton High School.  He went into teaching in the hopes of making a difference in his students’ lives. Prior to teaching, David worked in the industry as a Distribution Center Manager. 

David has his Masters in Educational Studies from Binghamton University '05, Bachelors in Management Science from SUNY Plattsburgh '85, and Associate Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Broome '83.

Vice President

Barbara M. Poliks is a research professor of physics at Binghamton University.

Dr. Mark Poliks

Mark D. Poliks is a professor of engineering at the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University.

James Tofte

President of the Board

Jim Tofte serves as President to the Board of Directors and has been a member since 2016. Jim is a 1991 Graduate of Binghamton University and the Watson School of Engineering.  Jim works as a Civil Engineer for Cornell University in Ithaca.

Fr. Corey Van Kuren

Fr. Corey Van Kuren

Fr. Corey is the local priest representative to the board and the previous Chaplain of the Newman House from 2007-2015.  Fr. Corey is pastor of St. Vincent DePaul/Blessed Sacrament Parish.
