2010 LENTEN SCHEDULE

Mass and distribution of ashes will be held at the Mandela Room on Campus on Ash Wednesday (February 17th, 2010) at 12:00 noon and 5:00pm.

Stations of the cross and soup suppers will be held at the Newman House every Friday of lent (February 17th thru April 3rd) at 5:00pm.

LENTEN REGULATIONS

Abstinence from meats is to be observed by all Catholics 14 years and older on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays of Lent.

Fasting is to be observed on Ash Wednesday by all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59. Those who are bound by this may take only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength according to one's needs, but eating solid foods between meals is not permitted.

By the threefold discipline of fasting, almsgiving and prayer the Church keeps Lent from Ash Wednsday until the evening of Holy Thursday. All of the faithful should undertake serious practice of these three traditions. Failure to observe any penitential days at all or a substantial number of such days must be considered serious.

Summer Schedule

Our Summer schedule will be lighter here at Newman House during the Summer. We will celebrate Sunday Mass at 10:00 am ONLY. We look forward to our students returning on August 27, 2009, at which time we will resume our regular schedule.
